Were Mike Huckabee not running Sen. Brownback would have had my full support.
Althoug his departure won't have a major impact, his endorsement of Huckabee could have a significant impact. The Strategic Vision Poll showed him pulling 4% in Iowa-which could provide valuable Iowa votes for Mike Huckabee, who has a similarly conservative ideology.
Brownback is also expected to not run for another term in the Senate in 2010, although he may run for Governor instead when Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) is term limited, also in 2010. He might also be a good choice for a cabinet post in the Huckabee Administration.
